4 wires come from cap, not like my jetta that has 4 wires then a 5th in the center than connects to an ignition coil. the plug wires i bought had a 5th wire in it, but it doesn't seem to attach anywhere, from memory there is a plug on the side of the dizzy with wires attaching, too late and dark to take pics

not sure if that helps at all, but the cap is obd2, rotor and dizzy obd1 afaik just because the obd2 rotor would not fit on the dizzy where the obd1 would, but the obd2 cap bolted right on no problems, connected plugs like they were before, so it had an obd2 cap on it before as well

ya get me email, and i was mistaken... i tohught it was an obd1 vs obd2 thing kinda like my mk3 jetta, but my cousin explained it to that there are 2 dizzy manufacturers for 97 se-rs mitsubishi and hitachi, apprently i have the mitsubishi one, or the one that uses a more triangular fitting for the shaft, so that was my mistake

Ok well that clears that up..

Im going to stand by my initial assumption that the distributor is at fault for this.. besides how would the injectors relay to the ecu that there was a misfire lol thats typically an ignition issue.

Do you have a stock exhaust system? Cat, O2's....

To me it sounds more like your cat is starting to clog and confusing your O2. My 00 G20 has a misfire code aswell, but nothing near what yours is doing.

true, but the cat reads when it's burning too rich (ok, 2nd 02 sensor), i know when i go downhill and let off the throttle a lil the check engine light will blink some, my cousin who works at advanced auto parts says that means damage is being done to the cat. i could understand the dizzy being bad, but i'm confused how it would only miss on cylinder one and randomly at that. i think of spark as being there or not being there, it doesn't always miss and there's no real pattern to it to where a dizzy would always miss because the connection wasn't being made, that's why i want to say injector after everything i've changed, it seams like it's getting stuck open, as in when i start the car, it's stuck at first which is why you have the gas smell
