Popping fuel pump fuses, stranded in parking lot!
95 200sx se-r

Car died on way to work today, had to push it into a Midas parking lot nearby. I noticed I could not hear the pump priming so I checked the fuse and it was popped. Put in one new fuse after the other but they all pop when I turn the key. I was told this could be the pump going bad or high resistance in wiring or a short. I am not good at diagnosing electrical issues so any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much in advance!

Wires.have a short.... pull the back seat and start at.the.pump....look for wires that may have rubbe down to bare metal or are burnt. If theres nothing obvious then try testing sections with a multimeter

pull back seat, unplug the connector for the pump, replace fuse, turn on key... see if fuse pops again.

If so, problem is before pump. If not, either the pump or something wrong with wiring inside tank.

I had a similar issue. the wires to my reverse sensor on tranny for lights were not connected and shorting out, causing fuel pump fuse to pop. good luck.

Well I just had work done on the tranny, so maybe they forgot to plug it in?

Simply leaving that connector unplugged wouldn't cause the problem you're having. With it blowing immediately like that it sure seems like you have a hot wire touching bare metal. Couldn't hurt to look up the wiring schematics if you are still having trouble and seeing what else may be wired to that circuit that could potentially be causing the issue if you can't narrow it to the fuel pump itself.

the connectors are all connected to the tranny. Con someone tell me which is the positive wire (hot) coming out of the fuel pump under the rear seat? There are 2 connectors, one with 2 wires and one with 3. I need to know which is the hot wire for the pump itself. I'm going to bypass it and wire it to a different fuse in the fuse box.
