Battery question
Hi folks, I have to replace my battery but at the same time I would like to get a new negative wire. Apparently Nissan does not sell this wire for B13 anymore. But they still sell the one for 2.0 B14. The question is, are they exactly the same?

Another thing, I want to get a good battery that can fit inside the OEM battery cover? I have this thing for years with no use for it and I would like to get it back on the car. Any suggestions?

Are Nissan batteries expensive?

I have had great luck with the autozone gold setup batteries. I recently switched to optima yellowtop setups because the winters can sometimes make it hard to start up. As far as the battery wire goes you should be able to buy whatever gauge wire it is and replace it. You will have to get the connections as well but it should be easy to acquire. I am in the process of replacing my battery wire in my G20 for a 2 gauge setup.

Let us know what route you decide to go.

Any local car audio shop should be able to sell you wire and ring terminals to make your own ground. Or they could make it for you.
If you want the best battery you can buy, find an AGM battery. They are great batteries with lots of power. I got one from Sears but most stores carry some brand of them.

Optimas have gone down hill since 7-8 years ago. They are good for about a year now before they take a crap. A few years ago i still had one that was at least 5 years old, been in multiple cars and never had any issues. I buy another one for a different car and it takes a crap in a year and the older one was still working. I did some research and heard the same thing happening to people. You have about a 50/50 shot of getting a good one now.

You know, most people dont know how to charge optimas. I have had a couple that were supposedly dead, but I revived them by charging them properly.
Google it. You have to charge them in parallel with a standard lead-acid battery otherwise they dont take a charge after below a certain voltage.

I know guys who worked at advance and autozone that get them all the time and revive them. Its amazing how many get turned in as bad and they are not.

Also...I recently used a 25 dollar lawnmower battery from Walmart in one of my cars.
It works fine and half the size and weight of the stock battery too.
You just cant run accessories for long with the car off.
It survived a couple days of FL freezes too.
However,I can not predict how they would do in a brutal northern winter,I was impressed with the performance, personally.

Thanks for your responses. I would like to get another Optima, but these days they are too expensive. I can't complaint about my old Optima(the one I'm replacing) it gave me 10 years of service. I think I'm going to get one from Autozone. But I'm still not sure. I'll let u know my final decision.

Ive always had good luck with optima batteries, ive owned 3 over about 12 years.
Each lasts me about 4 years.
The one I have now has lasted since 2009.

If you're not getting 10+ years out of a gell-cell battery, something is wrong. Same goes for 7 years and lead-acid batteries.

The warranty is only for 3 years and they are lead-acid. Ive never had any other lead-acid last this long. The longest warranty Ive seen for partstore brands is 3 years also.
