Cranking problems with Code 11 - Crank Angle Sensor
Hi!
I'm having an issue with my NX. Sometimes it's really hard to coldstart. The first time I try to crank it, it starts, reaches 400rpm, and dies. Repeat 3 times and the car starts. Giving it gas sometimes helps.

Other info that might be of value:
-I pulled a "Code 11 - Crank Angle Sensor" code from it, noticed that the CEL blinked once when i cruised.
-My launch control (that should be at 3000 rpm) is always at 1500 when it's cold. It's a good indicator, since I know it will be hard to start if it shows 1500 instead of 3000 . Really strange!
-I have additional enrichment tuned in Nismotronic, since I'm using E85 in a cold climate.

Is my distributor on its way out? Can you test them somehow? What do?!

Def sounds like a dizzy problem to me. The b14 acts funny like that when the module is going out. Check your wiring first and make sure there's nothing broken or stretched. I can get the test procedures off our Vantage on Monday if need be.

Update,

Took apart the distributor to see if any oil had gotten into it. Found only a small amount on one of the screws inside. The disc was not contaminated. Cleaned up and assembled it. Don't know if this helped, will see tomorrow if coldstart is problematic.

Oh, and it takes 3 times to start it EVERY time it's a cold start. The launch control stays at 1500rpm every time, and when you finally get it started and shut it off to verify the launch control, it goes to 3000rpm. Maybe @OnTheChip knows anything about this?

strange i noticed my launch controll did the same thing the other day.

anyhow, try raising the value of your fuel pump prime time (setup > diagnostics > fuel pump paramaters > prime time)

you may also want to mess with your cranking and post start trims (fuel trims > cranking and fuel trims > post start)

is your AAC getting stuck?

it may very well be your dizzy.

If you don't have 12V at ECU pin 46 at all times, the ECU will "forget" the "set launch" rpm setting and revert back to the default launch rpm setting on the Nismotronic LIMITERS, REV LIMIT SETUP screen.

You need 12v to ECU all the time?? Even key off? Hope I am reading this wrong?

But the default rpm setting on my tune is 3000! So that's why I think it's so weird.

Cleaning the distributor didn't help. Might hit the scrapyard and try to find a new to me.

But man, I love NEMU. My car idles so smoothly! I might try to adjust some post start parameters to try and implement a software fix for my hardware problem

Yes. Check the OEM wiring diagram for pin 46.
