Changing games
Hey guys, recently I have been stock piling parts such as 6 speeds and precision turbos to shoot for big power on the b13 chassis that I've wanted to do since I was 17.

However, I have recently had a change of heart. Don't get me wrong, I love my car to death and replaced and done everything to it from carpet to dash harness etc. it's bee about 7 or so years that I've own it.

But my mood has been changing to GTIR as of late. I have been really researching the possibilities of importing this gem myself. With the new year rules, I've decided to switch chassis but keep it sr20 powered, I have enough saved to switch out, following the new year.

Any one have this similar thought? I'm thinking more about tractor these days paired with a marsh head and 6262 turbo.

We don't have to follow EPA or dot rules but merely have the vehicle steam cleaned from foreign soil, obtain transit plates from local Canadian authority, have proof of ownership and it's age and fill out a CBP 7501 and other document to bring to the local state in which it would receive it's new US registration. Now I know imports could be hit with 2.5 duty tax, I'm trying to figure out if someone knows more about duty tax first hand and maybe other fees associated with the importing of the vehicle however, either way pay to play, especially because we have less hoops to jump through these days and won't be state restricted.

Thoughts? Just thought if post this to stir things up I'm sure someone else has done the same even though I used the search button which I found nothing.

It's just that time to move on I feel like especially when thing are within grasp, I used to live in Maine and got some boys that could help put me up for a bit while a attempt to wrestle one of these from canada. I plan on discussing it with CBP On Monday, that being said ride is up for grabs..

Cheers...

You would have to wait until august of 2015. Nissan did not start selling these until august of 1990. You cannot import one until the vehicle is 25yrs old to the month. You cannot even import one with the expectation of the vehicle turning 25yrs old.

I've been working with a exporter buddy trying to see what kind of work is required to import the pulsars and skylines. Just expect the prices to go up when the vehicle comes of age.

I had similar thoughts as well. I can't give up the traction loss and smokey burnouts for an AWD that could very well eat transmissions up too. lol

Eblink I understand all the time restraints bro, that's why I'm getting out of the game now and banking, I'm not going to use an importer, I used to live in Maine, I'd handle the import and CBP myself.

Eww, gross. I would never get a car, even if its JDM from the salty north.

True words right there. There are still garage kept goods never know and even if I'll have enough cash to get it from where ever

True. However, getting it from Japan would be a gamble too due to the tsunami. My buddy ended up getting a flooded k24.
