The knock and crank codes could be due to the choppy idle from the crappy MAF. My MAF went bad last year and I was able to source a spare to try from a buddy with a 300zx, just to be certain after already seeing a code AND taking readings from a volt meter.

If you're neurotic like me and that MAF code isn't good enough to be certain, take readings with a volt meter to further pin point a MAF issue 👍

Sounds like your MAF is bad though, lol!

Hmm. Well I'd still start with checking the volts for each pin with a meter. Iirc, you should show 1.5, 12-14, and 0 for ground, on a z32 MAF. I could quite possibly be wrong. I figure things out as I go but unfortunately I don't often retain a lot of info such as this.

But yeah, what MAF are you running?

***EDIT: I just researched a bit to back myself up.....
The 5v wire should be around 1.0v at idle.
Power just like I said, 12-14v.
And ground is ground. Try re-grounding the MAF? Run another ground lead to the chassis.
Again, This info is all for a z32 MAF.

I have a Z32 MAF and JWT ECU 330cc Turbo.

Thank you 93specv for the quick responses and assistance!

At first I just looped my aicv regulator like you did and I had a very awesome idle that fluctuated between 1.5 and 3k, this was just on a N/A DE mind you. I have not really had the time to properly fix it so i put a toilet valve in line until I go to change my starter and everything else.

I think it's the turbo because there's blue smoke and then the MAF doesn't engage properly so I've narrowed it down to that.

regarding the blue smoke do you have the hose coming from the t of your valve cover going to the intake pipe that is connected to your turbo?
