Thread: Fidanza flywheel question

I'm getting a used Fidanza wheel tomorrow and it has some damage, just nedded to know it everything will be fine. What happen was the flywheel came off in the trans so the back of the wheel is the part that messed up. It looks like someone was hitting it with a hammer abit. lol My question is would a machine shop be able to fix something like that?

Remember its just the back of the wheel where it bolts up the block. Everything else looks branda new.

Problem is if that damage causes runout on the flywheel (or causes it to not locate centrally), it will very quickly kill your clutch and possibly damage some other components, such as the input shaft splines (make them wear unevenly).

If a machine shop was able to turn it down to flatten it out and put a shim/plug (unknown technical term) in there it might be OK, but that's a pretty major part of the car to be mucking around with on a lathe etc.

Get a shim from an automatic motor. I have tons of them. Take it to a machine shop hjave them cut it down and put the automatic shim thing in there and you are done. every automatic SR20 will have it and it sits infront of the flex plate

exactly, do what miko said, thats the best way to go about it. I have a ton of those spacers also from a flexplate. Let me know if you need one. im closer to you than miko so let me know.

There anyway you guys can get a picture of the shim? Im not entirely sure what part your talking about nor know what it looks like. My friend I got the flywheel might have that stuff left over from his motors. Thanks guys.

Yeah dude i have one so don't trip damm i should have done a post like this in this forum i only did it in the g20 and they din't say anything. I knew it was an easy fix.

Thanks for the help mang....so your saying take the flywheel to the machine show and have them just flatten out that spot? Then use the shim as like a spacer on the motor? Just wanna make sure before I look for a machine show to do it.
