Defrost...
So I have a 93 g20, and the past few times I've had it out I needed my windshield defroster. Well
That leads to my problem. My vents won't switch from face vents to defrost. Is there a door and actuator somewhere down there or what? I've looked at parts everywhere and can't find a listing for anything. Any insight is welcome.

I am not sure about a g20...do you mechanically slide your vents from face to defrost? Or does your care work electronically?

Sounds like the vent flap cable is jammed or disconnected. What's it feel like when turning the vent knob for it ?

Re: Defrost...
Its just buttons there's no knob to change it.

If I remember correctly the spot for it to switch from different modes(foot, defrost, or face) is literly in the middle behind the HVAC controls. It will have a wire/cable running to a knob that is about 1/2 an inch long. You can manually slide it from there. I have no idea which way to move it because all of my hvac stuff works just fine. I may be wrong but I am 95% sure that is it.

Re: Defrost...
I found one door under the dash right at the fire wall just left of the glove box. I moved it but it didn't change anything.

Re: Defrost...
That one may be for temp control. Is the one your referring to directly behind the control panel or closer to the firewall?

the p10 vent selector is elc/mech. there is no cable.

my car had/has the same issue, the selector for the vent selection is up by the drivers knee + up a lilttle higher,

I grabbed a spare motor for the selector but it didnt work either.

i just grabbed a pull knob off a old car & took some steel wire & ran that, so now i have a pull selector..

the issue with grabbing a new motor for the selector is its a pain in the arse to "calibrate" it to be in the proper spot to select..its in the FSM how to do it, but being that its so tight under there, i cant see it being easy unless you have the whole interioir out

side note, the reason how my motor burned out was i had dropped 1 of those "smelling stones" (air freshner) in the defrost vent, & after a few years it managed to wedge it self in the flap door, & would not allow the motor to complete its full range of motion & burned otu

Re: Defrost...
I don't need it to move. I don't have ac just heat so I just need it on defrost

then reach your hand up where your left knee would go, disconnect the motor linkage from the mode selector door & push/pull it to where you need it
