Anyone ever drive around w/ TPS disconnected?
Think my TPS needs to be replaced and was wondering if any of you guys have driven around with it disconnected- when warmed up and coming to stops idle drops very low or stalls. I'm slowly eliminating variables, I just changed the spark plugs and messed around with the CAI, and while reinstalling the intake pipe the screw driver slipped and hit the TPS sensor kind of hard, bending it and now its floppy to the left or right so I'm kind of afraid to unplug it and break it. thanks

It'll run without the TPS, it'll just feel a little lazy.

Instead of guessing/throwing part$ at it, why don't you test it? Surely, after all these years, and the number of these cars you've owned, you have a Consult cable by now.

The thing is, I don't want to actually unplug the TPS because I'm afraid it will break off completely. It's hanging on here but lots of slack left to right

I have/had one but my neighbor borrowed it and never gave it back, and I've moved since then, totally forgot. I haven't talked to him in a while, I'll shoot him a text. He also has a like 6 of my long wrenches, extensions, a torque wrench.. argh. Says he doesn't have them but I know he does.

Had an issue like this on a B13 before, and regrounding the MAF and replacing the AAC valve fixed it.

So I drove around with the TPS totally disconnected and felt no difference than when i had it attached loosely, same acceleration except for throttle response. G/F says it feels the same as it did before it partially broke when I took her for a ride. So it must not have been making a solid connection for awhile, but it doesnt feel slower than it did like 4 months ago. Don't understand, strange shit. Ordered a new one from Greg, waiting on shipping. I hope after i put it on its a lot faster, perhaps i got used to it and didn't know it. Hard to notice changes sometimes if you arent looking for them.

New TPS is like 50$ from Greg. Or you fan try finding one at a junkyard for like 6 bucks but I don't trust electronic shit that sits out in the rain for 4 years

Did you test the TPS with a multimeter before coming to the conclusion? It is surprisingly easy to do, it's just a simple potentiometer! You don't even need to unplug it, and you don't need consult. Simply use supertiny needles and stick em into the connector and measure the resistance with a multimeter.

Here is what the FSM says:
