AICV valve on custom manifold?
Hey,

Does anyone know how the AICV is exactly routed? I want to incorporate it into a custom manifold. When looking at the stock manifold it looks like the hose coming from the intake pipe enters the IM via a closed-off pathway(no vacuum) that then leads to the AICV valve and then the AICV valve connects into the plenum of the manifold.

So you'd have:

intake pipe -> hose -> manifold closed path -> AICV -> Plenum.

So to connect it, I'm thinking of just connecting the hose from the intake piping directly to the AICV, and then have the other end of the AICV going to the manifold. I didn't know if there's a restrictor or something else going on in the manifold or I'm missing something. That hose is also going to see full boost. Just wondering if this is the right way to do it.

Thanks!

just did this myself...you want metered air run into the valve, then run from the valve to the mani. you can either mount the iacv/aac to the mani (weld on) or remote mount it (which i did) and just drill 1 hole in the mani for a barbed fitting and run the vacuum hose from the iacv/aac to the barbed fitting. simple, no welding. i used the xcessive iacv block off plate/barbs thats been laying around for a couple years.

This is the right way to do it. No, there is no restrictor. The AAC controls the restriction.

hmmm are you talking about the IACV, the thing with the idle screw? I was talking about the AAC, which is the thing used for cold idle adjustments, buuutt, I'd also like to re-incorporate the IACV. Xcessive iacv block off plate...know anywhere I can get something like this today?

sorry, i was confused. let me be more clear/confusing. i was referring to assembly #1 (iacv/aac).
yes, thats the plate. order direct, or, i think gregv carries them also.

Actually, upon further inspection it seems they don't make a plate for the b13/b14 IACV. The only one that would be easy to get seems to be the one for the KA, but I'm wondering if the plugs for the IACV and operation would work with the b14? What did you do?

does you iacv/aac assembly look like this?

its from a ve. it's a direct plug in to the 97 b14 harness. the block off plate shown here fits it perfectly

ahh you have the VE IACV. The stock b13/b14 IACV looks quite different. It doesn't have a metal hose coming off of it.

The good news is that the 240sx IACV is very similar to the VE one you posted:

And Xcessive makes a plate for it. I think buying/finding an IACV from a KA24 will be easier than from a VE. The bad news is that the Altima KA24 has a different IACV! WTF Nissan, can't you just standardize on one IACV?
