No, the factory VLSD is a SEALED unit meaning it does not interact or mix with whatever transmission fluid you use.

What Kyle says is true but what I think you were asking is if it uses a different oil than regular gearbox oil, and to that I answer yes. It is sealed like Kyle says but it uses a special fluid. Maybe you can try changing the viscosity of the fluid to get a different response out of the LSD.

Yea... aparently some S chassis nissan use VLSD´s and they use some kind of washer trick to get a bit more out of the diff´s... i have to look at that in more detail...

I´m thinking of swapping the VLSD to my turbo n14...

I'm sure one of us can get you an OEM one from a dealer local to us (if they still have them).

That would be awesome... i have a paypall acount, just need to find someone willing to send it internationaly...

And i don´t have the car yet. Maybe tomorrow, the insure is very burocratic, since it´s a pre-classic... more than 20 years old...

Also i´m thinking of doing this:

Am i spoiling a classic? What do you think?

I'd keep it stock on the outside personally, but it's up to you. Bummer about the color. That looks pretty close to the blue the se-rs come in, sapphire i think...? I think black and white were most common, followed by red, and blue. 'merica colors.

Yea everything USA here is "hot"... funny... but it´s nice to have something unique...

It's funny because plenty of US folks would kill for an N14/N15 hatch over here.

Hmmm i see... interesting... gonna search more about that... thx

It's a sealed unit, but it is liquid filled, after X miles/usage the VLSD fluid can become too thin and cause the LSD to engage all of the time.

Yea, that´s pretty normal, JDM stuff is hot outside Japan, and Japan just loves americana... just like EU VS USDM... i know a few VW guys that payed ridiculous money for US bumpers and tailgates for there Golf´s... ahahahha

I´m lucky, i´ll have in my garage a super rare n14 2.0 GTI and a rarer SE-R right next to it... how many ppl can brag about that? ahahahahah

Engaged all the time!? What? i tought it was the other way around, like not engaging at all, and work like an open diff... isn´t that dangerous(100% locked diff)?
