AT trans leaking badly + nut/washer in pan? P10
Picked up a '95 G20 today for $600 because the seller thought it needed a new trans. Got there to look at it and when you put it in gear it did absolutely nothing. Towed it home, pulled the trans fluid pan and there were some metal shavings, but the car has 267k miles on it so what I saw may have been normal wear. The fluid that drained didn't really smell burnt, but it was really low. Only 2-3 quarts drained out. Anyway, there was a nut and washer attached to the magnets on the pan, I couldn't really see where they came from. Cleaned everything up, put a new filter and gasket in, bolted the pan back on, and filled her up.
Started it and put the trans in reverse and it kicked into gear. Ran it through the rest of the gears, checked the fluid level then took it for a drive. Everything seemed to work ok, except for an occasional shutter while in gear. However, its still leaking badly from what looks like between the engine and trans.
So, where could the fluid be coming from? Anyone know where the nut & washer came from? I can snap a photo of them in the morning.
