Thread: Siphon Gas on B14 = Sorry, try again later?

I tried to siphon some gas I thought was possibly bad from my car today and couldn't get the hose all the way into the tank. It felt like there was something blocking it from going in. I could get it to go in about 3 feet or so and then it would hit a wall. I tried a large and small hose. Nothing worked. Do you guys know of anything that's right before the tank that is either filtering the gas or not allowing you to siphon?

Its to prevent it being siphoned.

Or everyone would be having gas pumped out their tanks

I was reading that 'newer' cars have this, but didn't know if our cars did.

Can anyone else confirm the b14's have a siphon lock on it?

Remove the fuel pump and take the gas out from the top.

Take out back seat

unplug the plug that goes to the pump,

get a car battery,

then get 2 wires 3 feet long and put 2 female conectors on it that have covers and slide them onto the pump connector.

take hose off of fuel rail and put into a gas container

have a friend connect wires to battery while you hold the fuel line in gas container

So can we confirm you can't siphon from the gas cap?



Could you do the same by shorting the fuel pump fuse and getting fuel from the engine bay?

I think it is easier to it take the fuel line off the fuel rail, and feed it into a gas can. Turn the key, and your tank should be empty in a few moments.

when you do it that way the pump stays on for 3 seconds. the key on is the prime mode. tge pump will not run continuously unlesd the motor is running

What brings you to the conclusion the gas is an issue?? Was the car running incorrectly?? Or is it a know bad batch?? Was the car sitting for some time??

Ya this is why I was thinking you could jump/short the pump at the fuse box to keep it running?



pinging. none of the above. it's very odd, never had this happen. I'm guessing it's the gas, so we'll see once I run it out and replace it. If not, more investigation is required. This was after I retarded my tune by 3* across the power-band in an attempt to fix.
