Starter motor question
Will a B13 starter work on a B14?

I have one from my VE, one from my 10:1 UK motor and one off a 91-3 B13 SE-R. I'm pretty sure the starter in my 1998 SE-R took a crap. Any chance one of the above will fit?

I think it would, since the trannys bolt up and the blocks are very close to each other. I am willing to bet that they would.

I think they're all interchangeable. I'm running the original 1998 starter on my highport motor. Is it just making noise or not working?

Well it has been cranking lazy for about 6 months. Now it will start once and then not start. It cranks really slow and dies. Volts are aok on battery and alternator. Connections and grounds look clean.

Been push starting and driving the B13. Push starts easily.

ur starter is toast.... ask me how I know. Our starters just suck... They ceize up for some reason... I bet you anything if you remove it after cranking it a while it will smell like electrical fire and be john blazin. After a while my solenoid would click, and it wouldn't turn at all.

I'm rocking the starter from my b13 in my car right now This is the third one in my daily...

Good to know. It looks really like a pita on the 98. brace for the manifold and all those tubes. I never had a starter go out on me before. I guess it was just dumb luck. thanks guys.

I installed the B13 DE starter today. The VE starter motor housing is not threaded on one side so it requires a nut and washer. Even though it is almost certainly newer I thought that would be a pita to attach.

Also the B14 starter has the ground soldered onto it. The B13 ground attaches to a tab with a connector. I spliced the two to make it work. Really easy overall. The manifold brace on the B14 is only 4 bolts and it slides right out of the way.
