My baby almost never sees 6K. It scares me to rev that high.

On average beating the living crap out of my red car I've gotten 24 at the worst... driving normally on the highway I get 33... average normal and heavy mix, driving hard, highway I get 28 usually...

The funny thing is I've gotten 44 in my turbo car when I went to columbus...

It really just depends on how you are on the throttle...

This month I wanted to see what would happen if I drove around not going above 3k rpm to justify if driving aggressively will save me that much money over the months... I will report back... but from the looks of it, taking the time to drive slower than normally in my case isn't worth the trouble... enjoy your car... don't worry about gas milage.

Our cars get good milage.

I have a JDM motor with s4's, I/H/E, and a JWT ecu. I'm running a JWT fly/pp/disc and an SR16 tranny. I drive aggressively most of the time, and run it up to 7500-7800 several times every day (redline is 7950). I have averaged 24-26 mpg in the last 4 tanks I have filled up in mostly city/commuting traffic. I could probobly get higher mpg if I learned to keep my foot out of it, but if that is your goal then an SR20 is the wrong car for you anyway. My .02 on the gas debate.

to get the most out of your gas, turbo and tuning is the only way

I've never seen any good evidence that JDM engines are any different. USDM has emissions stuff and that's it. EGR won't hurt gas mileage. It works from idle to ~3krpms to kill NOx. I can't see how it hurts power if it is functioning properly.

Cliff notes; JDM engine will be the same. Only better due to the lower miles.

I have the 98' SR20DE with extra EGR stuff, I have not tested MPG wise but I know when I used 93 octane with 15*+ of timing the fuel last much longer, the needle will sit in the same spot for a while.
Excuse my level of intelligence but how you calculate MPG????

Miles per gallon = Miles/Gallons

Haha it sounds really scary when it hits 6-7k with a intake/full exhaust.

Thanks for the info Tokes, I was hoping you would reply!

Basically I want a nice and fun to drive car when I gun it, but when I go on long trips, I want it to get good gas mileage.

If your car never seen lower then 24MPG, I think I'm sold on a JDM RR then.

I will honestly say the SR loves to be floored, and doesn't get bad gas mileage when I floor it, nothing compared to the VQ30 Maxima that I drive as a back up car. But my car seems to eat a lot of gas while idling then...

I honestly wish I could, but no funds for a turbo motor.

Well since JDM's don't have EGR, you don't have to worry about the intake mani getting dirty with exhaust dirt stuff

I think looking at the engine is the wrong place (unless maybe a VVL). I would research transmissions - my P10 has taller gearing than my NX. The G non-LSD trans should bolt right in - compare the final drives to see if it is worth it.
