What causes this? Clutch/Idle related
Trying to diagnose an odd issue that I am having with my B14. Car idles great and sits around 1000rpm normally after warming up (higher when cold obviously). Issue I have is when I press in the clutch and put the shifter in gear. When I do this, the rpm's immediately shoot up to a little under 2K. This happens immediately after moving the shifter, with the clutch still pressed to the floor, and without releasing it to move the car in gear. My questions is:

What is causing this?? Is it related to the clutch? Tps? Is this normal because I don't feel like it is...

I have checked both connectors for the clutch switches and both are plugged in. It is not bypassed under the dash from what I can see. I can, however, start the car without pressing in the clutch pedal. Maybe this was bypassed somewhere else on the harness that I haven't seen yet? I tried disconnecting/swapping the connectors on the pedal and had no change in behavior. This is a new issue for me. Seems like something simple that maybe I am overlooking? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I dont know about the idle problem, but if you can start the car without the clutch,it means the switch on the pedal is bypassed,or the relay under the hood is jumped.
I usually bypass the pedal switch on all my cars when I get them....also I get rid of that nasty buzzer behingd the cluster.LOL

Yea Jay on previous cars I've seen it done at the switch on the pedal. I will check the relay in the bay though as well. I hate that buzzer as well man. Also hate this problem as well though because sitting at stop lights getting ready for it to change it sounds like I am riding the clutch and it is pretty annoying. Would like to know what's behind it.

Also, I will hit you up tomorrow about the axles. I have a deal for you.

Timing is good, because I noticed pinholes in the boots on both sides of the B13 I just got.I am gonna use up all my axles this weekend, because my NX ate a driversside at the convention, too.

.....follow the cable through the engine bay... remember distributor connector might be rubbing on the clutch cable.

only way clutch cable can cause this...

their is no vaccuum running on the tranny side so it rules out vaccuum also inspect how they bypassed that switch....they might have done a rigg..
