Those of you who garage your SR20 and have other vehicles
Do you drive your garaged car A LOT less?

Before we got this house/garage, I drove it at least 3-4 times a week. Now I got my first house with a real garage ever, a 1 car garage, and between the g/f and me we have 4 cars. Guess which car went in the garage. Yep, the '92 Sentra SE-R VE. I find myself just waxing it now and then and never taking it outside. Even though it's the summer.
The first days when we moved in, I washed the car at a spray wash, then came home and waxed it with real wax, now I just use the spray detailer once a night on the entire car. After this, I totally understand how someone can have a car and never take it out (i.e. - the Ferrari in the movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off")

Now I'm not comparing a B13 to a Ferrari - but I get it now. You spend so much time cleaning it that you don't want to take it anywhere and get it dirty again. On a scale of 1-10, considering it's 22 years old, I give the exterior an 9/10 and interior an 8.5/10.

So what about you guys? I feel like I have to protect my it. My g/f thinks I'm nuts.

But you see, my first car was a 93 Sentra XE, when I was 16 in 1998, and it was my dad's car. He then got a 98 Sentra SE (the one with the SR20) and I was hooked. My dad passed away 1 1/2 years ago. These cars are more to me than just cars. They are a part of life. And having this car reminds me of my dad.

(btw sorry for the crappy cell phone pic. It doesn't do it justice)

I drive mine not nearly enough ...I actually take the battery out these days and it sits on a tender charger ....I drove it less then 10 times last year .. not very proud of that , I have to many cars, I drive the Powerstroke and GTO why more , I live 1.4 miles from work and it is just not practical to drive the NX , and when I do go anywhere else it usually means I have the family with me and that means I need more room , so that also means no NX , I also am working on a deep dark hole of a WRX build and a 69 chevelle build , and have several other cars ...a SE-R , a GTO and diesel truck and the wifes xterra ...to many choices

I only have another car b/c it takes so long to get parts for my NX. When my NX isnt undergoing upgrades, I drive it a lot.

Jordan, I'm in the same boat. I even put the car cover on mine while it's in the garage. Sadly, I'll be loosing my garage space sometime soon, but maybe that'll mean I'll drive her more. Just took her out yesterday for the first time since the 4th and she goes in for inspection tomorrow, over two weeks late.

BTW, you haven't seen my SE-R yet.

Here's a question, if you keep your car garaged, and have others, but still have the battery connected, how often should you drive the it to maintain the charge?

I drive it about once a week, at night (just got back from a short 20 min drive) - I know the ambient temperature makes a difference in start ups (cold vs hot), but it's so hot out lately here in the northeast that driving during the day (2pm) is a sweat fest without A/C.

Jordan, the best investment you can make if you are not driving it daily is Sta-Bil and a battery tender. Used both for many years, and both have never let me down. OCD B13 guy!

I agree...except,now you gotta worry about ethanol too....so make sure you get the newer stabil...I use M2000 marine stabilizer for boats.
Regular stabil wont help the ethanol drying effect, only keeps the gas from going stale and turning to water.

I don't really get to garage my car but my ve'd nx gets the driveway and my p11 gets the street lol.. I work 15 miles away but I usually sit in traffic most of the time and just driving a manual car gets irritating.. I drive my p11 almost every day to work, then on weekends when I go out I'll take the p11 for obvious reasons and the nx will just sit around.. I moved it yesterday.. did a Lil lap around my block and then before that it had sat for 3 weeks or so, as a matter a fact the starter on it has been going bad for the last 3 months lol, I haven't bothered to swap it because I don't drive it ha.
