Rear mount alternator with overdrive alt pulley
I'm curious if anyone is running a rear mount alternator setup with an overdrive alternator pulley in a b13/n14 chassis?

I recall my stock pulley being very close to the body/engine bay on my car and can see a few scuff marks where it obviously touched as the motor titled under accelleration. I want to add the underdrive crank pulley but need to compensate wiht an overdrive alternator pulley but I thnik this setup may rub. Are there any other real world benefits to the alternator pulley?

I run no radio on the car, no ac/ps etc. BUt my engine management system and tune is sensitive to voltage fluctuations.

Not from what I've read here. There are several people running a rear alternator. I think someone may offer a kit now?

Personally, I will never run anything but a stock crank pulley, I just don't trust changing the balance of the motor like that. But this is just my preference.

Thanks for the input. I must admit. I'm 50% motivated by aesthetics of the pulleys. I've runt he gspec before without issues, as have a lot of people here. Currently I'm doing a DE block setup with 8CW crank, crank and rods, flywheel, clutch etc all balanced together. I also have my reservations about the pulleys on a 4cw crank + high rpm build.

I dug up some threads for you with great pictures, they also show people who have done this so you know who to ask. It looks like if you use the stock bracket and modify it, you should have plenty of clearance. Is this on your DE/VE hybrid? looks like you should have plenty of clearance on the intake manifold too.

That's actually my brother in law's motor.

I already have the alternator rear mounted on mine. But the motor is out of the car now so I can't check clearance between the pulley and the body.

Actually now that I think about it. RUnning the alternator at the back off the water pump belt means it's already turning at a different ratio to stock. Probably quite a bit slower. So I guess the underdrive vs overdrive pulley isn't going to have such a big impact. But it might be charging more of the time now vs stock location? i.e. causing more parasitic losses?
