Top-mount oil filter housings
Hello,
This has most likely been covered before, but unfortunately I was not able to find much specific information.
I want to swap to one of the top-mounted oil filter housings on my VE, but I am not sure which would be a better choice, or if it even matters.

From looking at the pictures I could find, it seems that the one with the big circles on it may use a larger filter, though I am not sure if it would clear the Taarks water neck I will be using.

Ideally, I would prefer whichever one hugs the engine closer, however, the main deciding factor would be if either happens to flow better or uses a better/bigger oil filter.
Also, if anyone could please help clarify what the names for them are and which motor each comes from, I would greatly appreciate it.

I may just have to buy both to be able to compare them in person.

I, personally, do not like the top mount oil filter location on my b13. I actually just tossed out a spare one I had this morning. The oil filter size between those two are very similar in size, but I think they are different. The top one looks like it is from a highport engine, and the bottom one looks like a lowport one. Before when I was still into my build, I was looking for a ve oil filter housing because I didn't like the top mount one.

Lowports have the smaller filter as stated above, both sit close to the motor. I have a lowport one on my VE and love it, easy to get to.

So the low-port one uses the same filter as the VE? Great to know, thank you.

not all of them. p10 lowports use the highport filters.
