Thread: Auto, lsd, locking diff, 01 sentra F ME!

Harmless ordering of parts becomes a nightmare. I have a newly acquired 01 sentra SE automatic tranny. Identification numbers for 'axle' is fq40 and mfg date 04/01. Do I have a locking differential or not, and also how can I tell if it has ABS or not.

Pain in the ass...any help would warrant beer.

ABS has nothing to do with the transmission. The axles will either have a ring or not on the outside joint where it goes into the hub. Look for the ABS cable that bolts onto the steering knuckle.

As for a locking differential, driver's side should have a hump.
Another way to tell is to look through the axle holes, if you can see straight through its not a locking differential.

trans codee should end in V if lsd and A if open diff, you might find this info on the drivers door or door frame, possibly on a placard under the hood..

as for abs, usually theres a bunch of brake lines running to the passenger side of the vehicle and a bunch of other crap.
