Seating 22X8X15 slicks on b14 wheels
For some reason my M/T slicks in the size listed will not fully seat on the front bead of the wheel. It will not go over the lip on about 1/8th of the section of the tire. The rest of the tire is seated but that one spot is dipped in because of this. its not leaking air and ive had them down to 10psi and they dont leak but they are not looking right.

I tried airing them up to 65psi to try and get them to pop on the bead but they wont. Do i need to go higher than that. No shops want to do it because they dont want to be liable for the tire if it blows. So they wont air them up above 45psi. Now Discount tire tried to pry the one side up with a bar but that would just cause the other side to slide down into the dip before the lip of the rim. Ive got a different set of wheels that if noone responds i will use those because they dont have a steep lip inside just a nice gradual up to the bead.

Anyone have a clue how to make these work, i told everyone that most people use this exact slick on this exact wheel with no problems. They all just tell me the rim is not wide enough and wont allow the bead to pop. Do i need to air them up higher. I saw someone said they aired them up to 100psi to get them to seat but if thats true i will try it but really afraid of the tire just blowing up. Dont want that to happen

i know this is a new question and everything being i searched on the old forum and here, there was nothing stated. although everyone uses these slicks on b14 rims. Its weird, oh well im just going to have them mounted on a different set of wheels that are 7" wide and no steep shelf on the inside. should make life easier.

to answer your question about the width, i doubt that is the problem, i had my 22x8's mounted on some 15x6.5 saturn wheels, maybe try using more of that lube stuff on them

well they lubed it up like crazy and it still would not pop. They are currently being mounted on some 7" wide wheels that dont have a steep shelf in them. They should fit no problem on those. Oh well.

not reccomended but....

you could spray ether inside the tire, then throw a match at it... I have heard of tire places doing that

My dad did that to set his tire back onto the rim for his motorcycle.

got them seated on the other set of wheels, so all is ready to go. I dont think that would have helped doing the above, its not that it would seal it just would fully go onto the lip. i talked to a friend that worked at pep boys and he said the b14 and sel rims were a pain even with normal tires going on there. somtimes they had to air the tire up to 80psi to get it to pop onto the beed over that lip. Its crazy, oh well.

I had this same issue about 5 years ago. I got them on by putting ether on them and liting them on fire. It was a very loud pop but it worked out. Glad your all set though.

Lol the crazy eskimos did that to fix the Tundra's tire on the Top Gear Arctic Special. Popped it off the rim going over ice chunk and that trick fixed it perfectly haha.

i dont know what the difference between air pressure and lighting ether on fire would be, i mean they both creat pressure, unless its because its a quick pressure build to help seat them better, oh well, i got them so good to go, thanks guys
