Thread: Things to watch for when buying a b15 sentra?

Two things: First, my wife is prego. W00t!

Second, our tercel and my nx aren't really up to snuff for getting deh bebeez out of the car for a woman who's 5' tall.

So we're looking at a car with a back door (tee hee...I said...nevermind) and of course, I take this as my oppertunity to get back into an 01 sentra.

I've owned 3 but all in saskatchewan and that was like 4 years ago. I can't remember what to look for when I buy one (trouble spots). Can someone help me out with what I should be looking for as concerns?

look out for the QR Buy a clean se W/ SR engine and attach spec v upgraded parts

For a B15 chassis...(in Canada)

Keep an eye out for rust!

- underneath all four doors (especially the front)
- look for rust under the "step plate" next to the front seats
- look for rust on the strut/shock towers
- look for rust in the trunk under the carpet (sometimes water leaks in there)
- open the rear doors and check the body weld along the side of the car (down low)

I would also be tempted to bring a multi-meter with me and test for proper function of parts that are not cheap and are known to fail (in some cases):

- MAF
- EGR
- IACV (stepper motor)

Also, most B15's (2001 MY) I have seen suffer from heavy stone chip damage in the front (bumper cover, hood and above the windshield). A Nissan paint guy once told me that the paint was too "green". He said they didn't put enough hardener in the paint.
