The SR20VE motor is the future of the SR20 community.

When the SR20 community started, a Sentra that ran stock 15.8 in the 1/4 mile was insane. Now, new freaking minivans run better than that.

If the SR20VE was not around or never released, its likely this forum would have 1/4th the traffic. There are the SR20DET options, but people are getting tired of turbo because turbo is like standard on even some Hyundais.

If Nissan hadn't put that QR25 in the Spec V, and put the SR20VE in instead, this place and parts for the car would be 100 times what it was. It should have had a SR20VE in it, after all it was called Spec "V"

I see the forum doing well honestly. It's just different. The VE is carrying us pretty far, like people have said, and we continue to improve on that. Motorwise, we are doing great. The big bore builds are more established and more power is being extracted out of the 2.0L. ECU tuning is better than ever. My only concern is that we are not really improving chassis-wise. Ya we see the CSKs, and ingalls, and a few braces here and there, but nothing crazy enough to alter the inherent loose chassis and suspension geometry weaknesses. Maybe we don't need that though. Our biggest problem in the coming years, as already mentioned, is just finding the cars. The B13 is coming up on its 25th birthday.

Actually the NismoTronicRT version blew Calum's and Nistune's tunability out of the water. NismoTronicSA just takes it to a new leve, the standalone ECU level.

I'm not sure why CSK's are still so highly regarded when you can get a set of BC's which blow CSK's out of the water in price, adjust-ability, and monotubeness. :-D

VEs are the future?? Tell that to Mr Pioneer Marsh as he returned to his "roots" recently

I'll rather spend 3K to make 400WHP than spend 10K to make 300WHP. All about priorities

truthful sarcasm

It's funny, people forget that DEs have been running 10s now for over a decade...........
The Sentra had a dedicated "Sentra Cup" before people here could drive.........
B14s and B13s held records, especially in my region, at several different tracks over the nation for several years in SCCA (which one is for sale currently which I have seen and touched with my own two hands)

Kojima put together an island B14 that ran in the 10s ............
Fred Casey had a 10 second B13 how many hundreds of years ago......
There was a white B13 that made over 460 whp and ran in the 10s as well with Lexan windows several years ago........

This was all done before and during the discovery of the P11 trans, which they were breaking stock gearboxes and axles left and right before the P11 box.........

People also seemingly forget about a certain gentleman called Jackson Diamond with his monster STREET b14 who a certain individual picked up here...........

Problem is, people here do not remember history and strides are NOT publicized or shared with the community...........and once it is shared, it becomes debunked by internet disk jockeys and development is removed to behind closed doors. There's a reason the OGs moved on, and it's NOT because of growing up sadly.......

End rant children.............

Jackson Diamond's Monster B14

It's funny, this car was already sorted in Jackson's hands........ Built in 06-07......

I'll lurk this thread from now on. If people have issues with my opinion, you are more than welcome to PM me!

Which are perfect if you don't have a B14 and don't need OBD2. Calum had an OBD2 compatible ECU years ago, why don't they?

To understand why you have to look at the history and it's actually quite simple and understandable on why there is no OBD2 support yet.

Calum created a Basic and Real time daughterboard, he and others in the community manually found (by decompiling) where each tunable table is, though not all information was gotten. This is why to this day TunerProXDF files will have unknown tables or improperly defined scales, or missing features.

Then came along Dave, he reverse engineered and rewrote a lot of the ECU code. As you can imagine this is a lot of work. Dave released this new firmware, TunerCode, for Calum ECU's, but since Calum was gone by then it was a dying daughterboard setup. Now this was done for OBD1 because OBD1 ECU's are simpler and don't have federal regulations behind them (read: It's a felony to mess with emission controls on OBD2 cars).

Then came along John, who worked along with Dave to first make NismoTronic for Calum RT's with TunerCode firmware, but shortly after John had his own chip, the NEMU, which is miles ahead of Calum's old chip and Nistune chip.

Now Dave and John just released the new version, NismoTronicSA, where they completely rewrote the OBD1 firmware to work like a standalone ECU with features like speed density support.

To sum it up: John could release the NEMU chip for OBD2 cars, just like Calum did, but what's the point if someone doesn't first rewrite the code to make it more tunable then Calum's OBD2 ecu or a Nistune OBD2 ecu. Now demand is another big one, why would Dave spend days rewriting OBD2 code to find out only a few people are willing to pay for it?

To end: I'm more then grateful that we have such support from Dave and John for our old and dying cars. Until SA was released our only hopes for a decently tunable ECU was a standalone ECU which is not cheap, not street legal, and requires every little bit to be tuned from scratch otherwise your car will barely run. I was able to get my P11 running fairly well within a day with NismoTronic SA, the base map provided took care of all of the behind the scenes tables that help the car run while outside out full throttle.

Calum's OBD2 ECU had nothing to do with the emissions part of it, just like a JWT ECU.

I can understand it can take a long time to work through the code and you might sell a few, but if you look at how quick the B14 boards sold, and how they have held value, it might be worth it. I'm not saying they need to break the OBD2 tables to be able to turn various parts of the emissions off, but it would be nice to have another option for those of us that can't convert to OBD1.

I know the history of Calum and his ECUs. I had the first in my 200 and worked with him on the issues. I had one of the first realtimes in my B13 as well.

And the party continues.....

The thread two months ago pretty much sums it up and answers all the questions. Even Im starting to get bored and dont come on the forum as much....Doesnt change the countless pm's I get on here and Facebook and so on with people asking questions. I just dont have the time anymore to always come on here and post. But Ill always be around. I was around for the couple years I didnt even have a Sentra.
