Top feed fuel rail install help
Hey,

I bought a used JWT fuel rail. I also have 72lb MSD injectors. This is to be installed on a DET. I was looking at what's going on here and figure I'm missing something. What do I need to get the injectors installed and not leak? I was reading the JWT install guide on their website and suggests that you use the larger o-ring on the 'engine' side of the fuel injectors on the top part that goes into the fuel rail? This kinda makes sense because it's bigger, but is this all that's needed for the injectors to not leak? I'm guessing I'll need to order another set of o-rings for the MSD injectors if that's the case. Also, it mentions some sort of limiter clips which I'm guessing helps to keep the injectors going in all the way or to a certain point which I do not own. I only have the injectors and the fuel rail. What do I need to get this all installed proper?

Suggestions/help?

Thanks!

I found a pic of MSD injectors being installed on a different fuel rail. This pic shows what I think are the 'clips' that I'm missing. Can anyone confirm? I see on the injectors there's a notch below the o-ring and I'm guessing this is where they go in.

Will these stock clips work with the JWT fuel rail? If so, where do I get these clips? Is there something I can use instead? Are they needed?

I found various clips at Advanced Auto:

Buy BWD Fuel Injection System 28417 at Advance Auto Parts
Buy BWD Fuel Injection System 28416 at Advance Auto Parts
Buy BWD Fuel Injection System 28427 at Advance Auto Parts

Not sure which one I need, although the top one looks like it would work.

I can't be the only one that has had this issue!

Why does the last one work better than the first one? The last one looks like it's designed for something with a curved edge on the fuel rail.

Kind of like this. See how it's 'hooked' onto the rail:

What am I not seeing here? The JWT rail doesn't have a rolled edge. It's smooth on the sides.

Also, are the injectors supposed to feel kind of loose when inserted into the rail? Doesn't feel really snug, but I'm guessing that's by design. Kinda scary the only barrier between the injector and 43.5psi of fuel is 1 small dime-size o-ring.

According to the JWT install guide it does(not clip on to the rail necessarily, but are suggested/(required?) to use):

Step 5:

"5. Install the supplied limiter clip on each injector inlet below the O-ring to limit the depth that the injector inserts into the fuel rail."

http://jimwolftechnology.com/wolfpdf/FUEL%20RAIL%20INST.PDF

It supposedly keeps the injectors from being inserted past a certain point more than anything I think. I'm guessing they help on install and mounting more than anything.

Also, I have no idea what the original JWT clips looked like. Maybe they did help lock the injectors in. This is one thing I'm trying to find out.
