Relocating my battery to the trunk. The car already has 4 gauge wire ran in it from the audio equip the p.o. ran in the car. I know 0-2 gauge wire is the recommended wire for bat relocation but any downsides to running a 4 gauge wire for power?
@dganic23, I have run 4 gauge wire for my battery relocation for close to 9 years now with no issues. Not many recommend it, but I've been doing just fine with it. Cranking strength is just as good as factory in all weather. Pay attention to the details and you'll be fine.
The downsides (in theory) are less powerful cranking and more heat built-up in the wire during cranking.
