Was it all of them or just 1 or 2?

We never really looked into it because the car was running so damn awesome lol it was definately more than one though.

Cool. Yeah I mean I haven't REALLY gotten "on it" but it's running great. Feels more, I don't know what the word is, "throaty" in the mid range.

Did the machine shop did a valve job when the ported the head if that its the case you need to re shim the head because of the valve job you must have some loose clearance in some of the valves!!

Hi there - thanks for your input, but can you clarify exactly what you're saying?

he's saying if any valve work was done its possible that you may need to change the shims to fix the issue.. i seriously doubt its the injectors.. everything your sayin seems like a valve issue to me, if its toward the injections its probably on the intake side.. would be best to pull the vc and check all clearances.. im not sure on how to do that for a ve, but im sure someone here is.

Drove it for the first time today, runs good, except one strange problem, one or two of the fuel injectors is REALLY loud when running. It was not like this before everything was taken apart. My mechanic friend said it's possible it's because it sat so long (about 6 weeks without running).

I filled up with 94 octane, and put some Lucas fuel injector cleaner in the tank but I didn't notice a change (didn't expect to but thought it might help)

I haven't really really gotten on the throttle much yet, no where past 6000RPM as I want to do another oil change soon for any potential metal shavings, but wow, it feels great.

Anyone?

i had injectors sit for years. I doubt its your injectors. You stated you had a valve job done. the head must be re shimmed when a valve job is done. the noise you are hearing is from the valve train thats why it happens in a certain rpm range. measure the clearance and re shim the head as needed.

Well, the thing is, not enough material was taken off the valve seating surface to make a difference, seemingly. That's why its kind of odd.

measure the clearance then you will know for sure. If you have a engine scope use it to listen to the valve cover so you can pin point the noise.

Time to break out the feeler gauge and measure man. I ran my car without shimming my head on an older motor. Spun to 9500 and broke a rocker arm, lol. I wouldn't beat on that thing until you are 100% the head is shimmed properly.

Ok here's what I just did:

With the motor idling, I pulled each fuel injector harness out, one by one. The sound never went away.

It has to be a shim.

Once again you guys (nismo94tuner, lynchfourtwenty, and ashton as usual) are correct.

Pulling the VC again on sunday and going to measure and see what the problem is. I suspect (and this is pure speculation) that the stiffer valve springs were too stiff for this feeler gauge. The thing is, the car runs fantastic. I haven't pushed it TOO hard, stayed below 6500rpm, and if it was just a noise I could live with it, but I don't want to cause any further damage on such a fantastic motor.

Oh and BTW....

I think a few of you guys should just start a 1-800-SR20HELP hotline and charge $2.99 a minute. You guys are right seriously 100 percent of the time. I'm thankful you guys are here.
