Injector noise after new head gasket install (B13 VE)
SOOOO it's alive. If you've been following this thread we put a new head gasket, port and polished, valve job, resurfaced head etc. the works in my 92 Sentra SE-R w/ VE swap.

EDIT: It's a shim. You guys were right. AGAIN.

UPDATE:

ANOTHER UPDATE:

it was a shim not properly seated in a retainer

I've had injectors sit for much longer than that without having a problem.

Yeah, I figured that. The sound dissipates after I hit around 4000RPM. It just is noticeable at idle. I'll take a video of it later so you guys can hear it.

At first I thought it was some new valve train noise and was about to hang myself, after almost 6 weeks of work. then I realized it was prob the injector(s)

Are you 100% its the injector? Any chance you guys had the shims out of order when assembling the head?

Yep, sounds like an improperly shimmed head. Dont rev too much with it improperly shimmed or youll be asking for a broken rocker arm and possibly even more damage.

With the engine idling, I put my ear up to it as close as possible it doesn't sounds like its from under the valve cover. It's a click click sound that goes faster as the RPMs go up and then disappears after a certain RPM is reached. All the shims were placed in the proper order for reassembly.. unless someone f'ed with my stuff.

I should also add, the noise was MUCH louder from the very first start up. Then it got progressively quieter, and it's quieter now still (just went for a drive) but still there

Everything else is running great, but just to be sure, I will take a video of the sound when the motor is idling and post it here so you guys can hear it and see what you think. Thanks.

My friend had a S12 with a CA18DET swap and his injectors were noisy too lol I hope you get this figured out soon.

Was it all of them or just 1 or 2?

These are noisy heads. Don't you have to re-shim it since you skimmed the head?

If you think its the injectors you can rebuild them. I had a set rebuilt for my first VE because it wouldn't idle after 16ve cam and I swapped my Calum Basic to a Calum Consult ECU.

While it did make it idle smoother and quieter the problem was improperly seated ECU. YMMV.
