Thread: Leak in Collector

I have a Mazworx header and they did not weld the inner part of the tubes going into the collector. Last night i put some solder on them just to see if the AFRs changed as the leak is pre-O2 sensor. The AFRs are reading quite a bit richer than they were before, so the leak is affecting the readings. What should i use to fill the gaps? I thought about some sort of putty or epoxy because there is no way to get a welder in there. Anyone had any experience? I did some random internet searching, and some suggested Pyro-Putty, JB Weld, or even high temp silicone.

My friend had a pretty bad leak in a hotshot header on an H22 and he used that muffler putty stuff that they sell in any of the parts stores. It was right at the flange where it attached to the head and it held the leak for him.

that muffler cement crap might work...tried it on my ssac, because I have a crak the the primary flange and the flex pipe...both throwing off afrs...

but the muffler cement flaked off....but at the collector ,I think if you can smoosh it in the cracks it should help....idk

I found some stuff at the parts store, it is rated at 2400*F so it should be fine. It was a paste with what looked like metal sand in it. I put the first coat on last night, will do another one tonight.
