Right P11 transmission For B13?
I developed 5th gear pop out on my 92 SE-R, it's my only car, so the next day I ordered a transmission out of a wrecked a 2000 Infiniti G20t. I could have gone with a B14 transmission but wanted the later, stronger transmission.

I know the 1999 P11 tranny's are not the stronger ones, but I had some second thoughts the next day about the 2000 G20t. I did some searching on the B15/P11 transmissions and almost all the threads say 2000+ are the stronger trannys, but a couple older threads say to get the 2001 and later transmissions.

Did I order the right transmission? What year did the G20t start coming with the stronger transmission, 2000 or 2001?

2001 p11 had it for sure. some of the 2000 p11's had the 99 style tranny in them. So if its a 2001 or 2002 p11 you have the stronger unit for sure.

The transmission hasn't come in from Texas yet. Is there any way to tell the difference between the 99 style and the later model ones when it gets here?

From what I've been able to find in past threads that ID number is not usually on the transmission itself. I was wondering if there were any physical differences or other information that would let me know what I have.

Vin is stamped on trans, call infiniti dealer with it and ask what pn is for the transmission.

Thanks, I can get the VIN and then I'll know exactly what I've ordered.

I'm still wondering if there are any visual clues to help others in similar situations. I did find this info on G20.net

RS5F32V
06/98 – 07/99 Infiniti G20t
5 speed VLSD Transmission: Pt# 32100-2J011

RS5F70V
07/99 – 01/01 Infiniti G20t
5 speed VLSD Transmission: Pt# 32100-6J010

This info should help if I get a dealer to verify the date of manufacture from the VIN. The junkyard said the date was 10/1999, so I should be good.

There is a small plate that must be removed before you can remove the reverse idler gear on a 2001+ transmission that earlier models don't have.

Check the photos on the top post of this page:

You're welcome

THANK YOU!

This is exactly what I was looking for, pictures comparing the 1999 transmission to the 2000+.

For anyone else interested, the thread MOJO found has actual pictures of the 2000+ tranny with the black reverse idler gear cover on the bottom side and a picture of a 1999 tranny without the cover.

Priceless information, now everyone will know exactly what to look for. Thanks again.
