Thread: Headgasket: need some opinions on re-use.

I'm getting ready to put my motor together, hopefully for the final time. Problem is I'm using a VET metal hg that I previously torqued down before finding out I only needed to pull the head again. So my question is: would you recommend buying a new hg or would I be ok reusing the one I have? Gasket was brand new and only torqued down, motor never started or put under compression.

I would use a light coat of copper gasket spray on both sides and put it back together. This is what I did when I took my motor apart three times before I cranked it up for the first time.
