Heat cycling tires
Looking for some input on heat cycling tires for the track.
I have a new set of Kuhmo XS tires for the upcoming convention.I havent put them on a car yet,but they are mounted on wheels and ready to go.
I was searching and came across a few discussions about this.
For example Discount tire recommends heat cycling them,as per Kuhmo. They claim the tires are sensitive to the first cycle particularly.
General opinion seems to be that it is not needed for these tires, and all it does is extend the life minimally over time.

Please discuss.
I have zero knowledge about this, and this will be my first time driving on a "real" track.I have done some autocrosses, and slower speed local time attack, but never on a full roadcourse.

I think it starts to make sense on a full blown track tire where the wear rating is really low and the price is really high. For $15 a tire that's roughly 15% of the cost of the XS. I doubt you're gonna get 15% more wear out of them to make up the expense of doing it. On a $200+ tire that you measure the wear in terms number of events, that's a different story.

Heat cycling is for DOT competition tires, it seems silly that Discount Tire reccomends them for the XS. I'd put them on and drive for 50-60 miles to scrub off the mold release compound, and they should be good to go after that.
