Just wanted to say THANX!
After a long ass delay in the "better running SE-L" project. It has come to a sweet ass ending. After months and months of trying to figure out why my crank pulley was saying one thing and my scan gauge and car running like crap saying another. We finally figured it out. Bad IACV and bad OEM crank pulley.

With this being said... I wanted to say thanx to the following people with there help and idea's.

Vadim- Thanx for all the great info. Your know how always has been my friend.

Serban- For tossing me a well working IACV. And some helping voice guidance.

Robert- For the help with those damn water pump screws. And the kick ass UR's!

And Miko- For telling me it was the crank rubber pulley fulling apart. How right you were.

Thanx guys... I appreciate all the help.. 30+MPG. I'M BACK BITCHES!

On the stockers seeing that its truly a 2 piece pulley. Where they meet is a very thin rubber seal. Well come to find out that mine was slipping causing it to spin. Which in turn was making my timing look as if it was dead on 17* when it was really like 5*.

So with the one piece UR. No slip mean it's all good now.

.....dam this can be a problem for me as well since when i advanced/checked my timing it at first it was at 20 or 21*!!!!!!!!so i backed it down to 17* and the car felt like i was hualing an extra 1000lbs in it....and sucked ass....

so i figued that it was already at what read to be 21* timing and had no issues running i would put it back.....and i wondered too how bad the rubber seal in a two peice pulley would move/slip inside it

That's it. Change it out and then re check your timing. This is the same exact problem I had. And it started right out of no where and just got worse and worse. I was thinking that my o2's went bad cause my bad MPG. And I also did a full tune up.

2 years man... 2 year I have been dealing with this. To the point where my idle timing was at 3* and didn't know it until I got a scan gauge. I was pissed. And I remember my 1st thread about this on the old forums. I had a video of my timing at 25* plus! I thought I was going to get rod knock

You can go with a newer oem crank pulley. But if you are going to do that, you might as well upgrade it.

I went 3 years of threads on the old forums and I couldn't find the video. But I can tell you this much. If your timing is way retarded the needle will be past the last mark. The one more towards the front of the car. But if your idle is normal, it could be your IAVC and the pulley.

Yea brother... if you look at it. There is a seam on both sides. I took my stocker and held it and twisted both sides in opposite directions. And its moved like 1/4". SOB.. this whole time it was that damn thing. And I think I know what caused it. I have had a little bit of a leaky power steering line.. and from what Serban said.. that fluid can destroy your bushings. Well.. rubber is rubber. Doesn't matter where its at.. All it has to do is get in there than done deal. Now control arm bushings here I come.... damn it.
