what are the 3 plugs by the computer for? UPDATE: Harness Swapped- Post #10
I'm putting a ve from my 98 sentra se into my 95 200sx se. When I just went to put the computer in, the 3 plugs that go from the engine harness to the car are a different size than what is in the 95 200sx.

Is that something I need to swap out from the 98 se? how hard are they to get out?

this is a picture of the 3 plugs coming from the 98 se engine harness.

Ummm... I'm not entirely sure, but they should match up. I know Nissan changed from 16 to 32 bit ( or 32 to 64) in 98 or 99. This may be what you're encountering. They changed a few things. But it should fit. You might need to just get a 95-97 harness and modify it for your IACV and such and you should be just fine.

98s are different as well, many electrical things changed. You will need a 95-97 SER engine harness to make this easy.

I had to pull the dash out and pull the whole harness out of 2 cars 98 SE and 95 200sx SE. its amazing how heavy that wiring is, I would say there is about 15-20lbs of wiring there. It has turned into a two day project now. I still ended up having to swap some plugs by the fuse box though. Now I have one last plug from the 98 harness that doesn't match up to anything, I'm suspecting it is for the rear doors that the 200sx doesn't have.

Re: what are the 3 plugs by the computer for? mine aren't matching up in swap
One is fuel pump and one is obd. I can't remember the other, but it may go to ac control area.

I think the extra door harness is near the drivers side kick panel. Its been so long I do not remember, but i do know the SER harness worked in my 4 door so the wiring is there.

Simply put you need all of them. You will need to look up the FSM pinouts etc. This is why it's best to use the original wiring harness that came with your car.

I got everything swapped in, but now when I connect the battery the parking lights are on and wont go off. not even by the switch. headlights and everything else work including wipers and high beams. the engine turns over but I need spark plugs and wires, so I have not actually started it yet. the parking lights are really puzzling me.

Has anyone had this problem when going from a 1.6 to a 2.0l?

The three plugs by the ECU have nothing to do with the parking lights. There is an issue somewhere else, could be the switch itself.

so I have switched all of the harnesses from the 98 to the 95 body, the fuel pump was running with the 95 harness. Since I switched to the 98 harness the fuel pump isnt running. the car is just cranking but not starting. it seems like it fires once then stops firing.

What would cause the 98 harness that worked with the fuel pump before to stop working?

With the 98 harness up front the parking lights up there are now off.
I dont have the trunk harness connected yet. Could that be the cause of the fuel pump issue?
