This problem is becoming very weird. The plastigage is saying .006. but I measured the bearing thickness and it is at .0778. So this means that these are the correct bearings. And I have gotten the .006 measurement with two different cranks.

i dont know a plastigage that even reads to .006. Most plastigauge only reads to .003, thats the green one. Basically if you put it in and actually had .006 the plastigauge wouldnt even crush. It would be the same thickness as it was when you put it in there. Youre reading something wrong. If your using std bearings on an uncut crank and an untouched block there is no way your oil clearance is .006, sorry.

Just stop... stop right now...send your stuff off to someone who can read a micrometer properly to .000x and have them finish up the assembly for you. Pay them the $200-300 or so for assembling the bottom end and save yourself headache and wallet hurt. Reading what you are typing is hurting my head. Seriously, main bearing size is a HUGE issue, if they are not sized correctly or are too loose, your rods will not get enough oil and you'll screw stuff up, plain and simple. If you can't move your crank with your pinky, it's too tight. I'm not trolling, just seriously irritated at some of the things ppl are saying.

Wow dude, be chill. I didn't get the .006 from a vernier caliper, that was from the plastigage. Your simple minded criticism is hurting my head, I found out the problem, and the engine is fine and getting assembled now. Just because someone has a question, does not mean they do not know what they are doing. Be chill, and carry on.

The red plastigage does. Like I said in my previous posts, I tried green, which goes to .003 and red, which goes to .006. Here is a link for red plastigage for those that have never seen it, Sealed Power SPR1 Plastigage : Amazon.com : Automotive. I figured out the problem though. Its all good.

When you starting measuring <0.001" lots of mistakes start happening. If each measurement with the micrometers has a +/-0.0005" error (which happens) you already can't trust your measurements.
I have plenty of experience measuring tiny things.

Lol...
