Thread: Marks on JDM engine

Hey everyone. I bought a U12 DET recently and I've opened up the bottom end to check out the bearings. I noticed that the block surface where the oil pan meets the block has an 86 in red ink on it. The girdle also had an 86 on it in black marker.

In the head I found a 3 in black marker on the third intake cam cap.

I'm just curious if any other people have found handwritten number marks on their engines. I wonder if this is from the factory.

yep, i found some texta letters on mine, outside of the block, where the bellhousing bolts to. reckon its been there from day one. can't remember what they were but.

Yeah i see them all the time with the engines i strip for parts/scrap
