B13 SER running at 3500 at idle. Need help
Hi.

I've had a problem with the idle on the SER. The idle has be going anywhere from between 3k-4k rpm's. We've replaced the o2 sensor, cleaned the throttle, idle control air valve was replaced. And we have no idea why the car is revving so high at idle.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Sorry for noob question but running out of ideas. I'm pretty sure it might be the EGR vac leak. and before we go through all that I just want to see if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks.

Reset ECU. I've had this problem before and after much headache someone said "reset ecu" and I thought it wouldn't work, but it did.

Costs nothing. Takes 15 seconds.

Little "stopper" on the throttle body? Its a small 6 or 8mm nut holding the bolt in position. Might need adjustment?

hope the problem was there BEFORE you cleaned the throttle body, its easy to end up with a high idle air leaks around the butterfly from hard scrubbing. check for air leaks, and check your throttle cable's not binding anywhere.check your tps, maf , and new iacv values.

I'm sure this is pretty much it. Checked it and noticed that the throttle wasn't even coming down to the stopper, so it was cracked open all the time. Adjusted it to where its right. But I went ahead and I'm making some block plates to remove the EGR so I wont be able to check to see if this fixed it until tomorrow or so.

Yeah, it was happening before it was cleaned. But thanks. I'll check leaks in that area. I don't know about the TPS, MAF, iacv. But I'll give it a shot if nothing else.

Tried it and it was still doing it.

Been working on this car with op. We have it pretty much sorted out. Adjusted the throttle cable and deleted the egr. My new question is when rerouting the vacuum hoses I noticed the solenoid valve under the throttle body was broken, I ended up using the one that was on the egr stuff. Is this fine, and will it negatively affect anything? I used it plugged into where it was on the fuel injector harness. Just left the broken one under the throttle body plugged in but no vacuum hoses going to it. Appears to be running fine.
