I had the gtir strut bar (the one that's made to clear the top mount) and it was indeed aluminum.
It could very well be that Cusco changed them from aluminum to steel in the last few years.
I got mine 10 years ago from a buddy who was stationed in Okinawa and he pulled it off a gtir in a junkyard. He also got one for my friend Robert. That one was so chipped, that Robert just got some aircraft remover and stripped it to a bare aluminum finish. As far as I know, with the only 2 Cusco strut bars I ever dealt with, I always thought they're supposed to be aluminum.
I'll see if I can find some pics of the bare aluminum one.
