It's a bad feeling when it happens, right? I knew what it was when it happened. Now that I think about it, I think the cable got stretched back in February when I first started this thread. Should have known better.

that's pretty much what happened to mine...one day I got in,,and was like...hmmm clutch feels weird..so I adjusted it...then within 2 weeks it snapped...it shred it self right thru the firewall.

Once you have a car shred a cable they will often do it again and again. I've known guys to abandon OEM cables and keep a spare in the car. I know that's not common forum wisdom but if you're shredding cables in short order OEM gets expensive.

This was my first break in 5 years of owning this car. Hopefully it doesn't happen often.

Did it get more and more difficult to put it in 1st gear at stop signs and such? That's usually a sign

No I didn't notice that. Well I got the cable in just now, and man, it is so smooth now. No more creaking or squeaking. Now how tight should I have this thing? I don't want this one to prematurely break on me.

Is it counter clockwise to loosen the cable, and clockwise to tighten? I forgot. I think is counter clockwise for loosening the cable.

If you want it to grab lower loosen the cable because this makes it longer.

Get yourself a can of CableLife. Use a little red straw (the kind you get with WD40) and squirt some CableLife down in the end of the cable. Undo the rubber booty to get access. Use 100PSI of compressed air through a blower tip to get the lube throughout the whole cable. Use your thumb and forefinger to created a "fiiting" Careful at first, as you may blow the stuff all over you engine bay and face. A rag may come in handy to cover it while you blow. I find it easiest to do the prybar trick and prop the cable end straight up and down by the brake master. You may want to put a rag on the other end up by the pedals so you don't blow the lube all over the inside of your car. I do this every 6 months as a precaution. Your clutch engagement will never be smoother. I haven't broke a cable since I starting using this stuff for about 8 years now.

Tip from the old dude....

Thanks man . This cable has to last me a long time. Can't afford to be buying Nissan cables on the regular.
