..like REALLY slammed on them, as in, all wheels locked up, you went from 60-0mph, the smell of burnt tires in the air, and although there was no contact, on the way home your car had a strange steering wheel vibration, what would you think it was?

Flat spotted the tires? warped rotors?

The car is a 92 SE-R with NX2000 brake upgrade and x/slotted drills front rotors. Rotors are 4 months old, rear pads are brand new.

I stopped from about 60 mph to 0 in what seems like 3 seconds, so the NX brakes really saved me, they work, but this new steering wheel vibration bothers me.

What say you

Yeah that's what I thought.. damn. So I guess it will go away eventually with enough driving to level out

I just want to say, the NX brake upgrade most likely saved me from a major collision earlier tonight and possible injury. I stopped inches from the other vehicle. The 200sx cant even lock its brakes up (stock brakes) even if I try

Flat spots for sure!

I have 4 flat spots on my winter tires with two of the tires being worse than the other two (fronts). Two years ago a fuc*ing asshat swerved in front of me on the highway and then proceded to lock up his brakes and come to a near complete stop on the highway. Well, with traffic being the way it was and with minimal reaction time, I slammed on my brakes and just missed rear-ending his car by a couple of feet. Seconds later, I had the vibration and tire noise that goes hand in hand with flat spots. This is now the third winter (including the winter where it happened) that I am using the tires and they still make plenty of noise. They haven't really gotten any better. Also, I can feel the flat spots when I roll at low speeds.

If the flat spots are bad enough, you will have them for the life of the tire. You can have the tires shaved but it isn't really worth it as far as I can tell. Best thing to do is put the fronts (these will be worse because of the weight/momentum that sudden breaking causes on the tires) on the rear and get used to the thump thump thump as you drive. You could also buy two new front tires and leave the other two on the rear where the noise isn't as noticeable. I have gotten used to my G20 sounding like a military-style off-road vehicle.

Since it looks like new tires may be in your future, I like Byrons idea the best...
