Because that's what Nissan wanted? The GA was never meant to be a high performance motor.

That is the honest to God truth. It really wasn't.

A full bolt on 1991-1994 Sentra with the GA16DE (cold air intake, header, exhaust, JWT cams) will still not even beat a stock SR20DE. That tells you right there whats up.

I have no hate for the GA16DE, I've owned a 93 Sentra XE and a 94 Sentra LE and it's a great economy motor, in fact great cars, but not meant to be up there in power.

VCT= Variable Cam Timing

The GA has it on the Intake cam only. The GA16 was meant to be a fuel economy only motor...Not performance in any way. And it does a good job of it as I had a GA powered 200SX and it got 42+mpg on the highway driving it to work every day. Thing sipped gas. Performance wise....I used to have an nx1600 and with full bolt ons it ran 2 seconds slower in the 1/4 than my basicly stock se-r did when it first got delivered to my house running on 3 cylinders. Thats right...The SR20DE running on 3 cylinders went 2 seconds quicker than my GA ever did.

If you want performance, ditch the GA and go VE....Simple as that.
