Because that's what Nissan wanted? The GA was never meant to be a high performance motor.

Just be glad you have the USDM version of the GA16DE. It has about 115 PS, whereas the EDM version only had 102 (due to a different head and intake manifold).

If you want VVL, swap to a SR20VE.
