Help me rescue my windshield!
Anyone know if it's possible to drill into a windshield without cracking it? I have a set of huge a** cracks that extend sort of around the passenger corner of the windshield and they have already reached the edges of the windshield on the side and bottom. It's getting real close to reaching the end on top too.

Other night I was driving and it was really cold out, and when I would start I could hear the thing rattling!!! Problem is every time it gets cold out the glass contracts and that crack is going to get a little bit longer each time. I'm scared of what's going to happen when it actually reaches the top because then my windshield won't actually be mounted on both sides anymore...

So, you think it's possible to drill a small relief hole at the end of it without destroying the windshield?

I am broke lol, plus I have heard horrible stories about people trying to install their own windshields. Not to mention I don't have a garage and whatever sealant you use for that probably won't ever set in this cold weather.

Well I know you CAN, it's really more a matter of how risky it is in this situation. Especially don't know about curved glass, and then there's also the problem of locating the actual end of the crack since it extends beyond what you can see, and the fact the drilling before it wouldn't change a thing.

Yea, I'm pretty sure it takes special bits and water or something. Haven't looked into it at all really, just speculating.
