2001 SR20DE RR - Tapping Noise - *video inside*
Once the engine is fully warmed up. The engine makes a tapping noise at idle. I don't really notice it when I raise the engine RPMs.

I have not taken a video of my car yet personally, but it sounds exactly like the tapping linked in the video below:

UPDATED VIDEO: 1/25/2013:

Any suggestions. Timing chain tensioner, valves, wrist pin, or worse?

Remove the valve cover and check the valve shims, make sure you didn't loose one. Check all of your spark plugs to make sure you didn't loose a ground electrode. Check your throttle body screws to make sure you didn't loose a screw from the throttle plate. That covers all of the basics of loose objects. If it's not that, then you might be getting a rod knock from low oil pressure.

I've heard rod knock on numerous motors, and this sounds nothing like rod knock. I'll check the first couple bases you mentioned.

New videos uploaded. There was too much environmental noise and it didn't seem to be producing the sound very loud. I will post another set of videos, when the sound is more pronounced.

Sounds like a bearing?

Alternator or water pump maybe?

Can you check that the cams are being oiled properly? It does sound "dry" when the camera is around the valve cover.

The alternator is on it's way out. That's probably the "dry" sound you speak of. It actually whines a bit in the morning when it's cold. Water pump is good. No overheating issues.
