that sounds like a good idea.. i wouldnt even put the cam caps on, i'd just rotate it, that way if it is indeed bent it'll be easier to tell and you dont risk messin anything up further.

Hank, just set the cam on two block on the journals and rotate the cam and see if the end is bent/wobbling or by measuring from the end of the cam and see if the height from the last journal of the cam to whatever surface your on changes. If its bent enough it will be apparent just turning the cam.

Okay. I'll give that a whirl.

Sooo, I'm not sure if .012" larger than stock is enough to cause this issue? Aside from not using these S3's or fudging it with grinding shit down, I'm running out of options. The only thing I can think of is there's an issue with the HLA and I'm overlooking it. I would think if the HLA was bad the issue would have followed itself to cylinder 1, where I swapped the original HLA to. Unless the #4 oil port is clogged? What's a good way to check for a clogged oil port? Compressed air and blow it the fack out?

You could try that but I am led to believe that if it was a hla and it was bad that it would bring the same symptoms to wherever you swapped it to.

I was thinking the port in the head was clogged and I would dislodge it with compressed air. I dunno. Like I said, I'm running out of ideas.

THIS!!!!! I am freeing paranoid in loosening and retightening, almost to a level of OCD. Another reason why it says "cams are a pain the ass" under my screen name, they really are, in this motor. Sure it's more difficult in new cars and motors with all the stuff you need to remove first, but still.
