Change your fuel filter and get a new tank of gas... Luckily my car sat for only 7 months but at first it would just shut off... I had a brand new fuel filter put in before it went down but I still had to change it to get it running correctly again... 1 year is MORE than enough time for that... If the car was running correctly a year ago then look at that first..

could that really be the issue? i know it's been sitting for a year but could it go bad in that time frame and give me the problem i'm having?

Did the car sit inside a garage where the temperature was somewhat controlled or was it outside in the heat/cold?

it was outside...and i live in CT where the New England weather changes frequently

Awesome, i'm gonna try that...im sure it could use some fresh gas anyways

Hopefully its just a filter, but when my car did this the fuel pump was shot

Unless you've got boost or high-compression, just buy 87 oct. You don't get anything special from going any higher in rating.
