Thread: SR20DE swapped B15

I just swapped my 06 sentra with a 1.8 auto to a 01 sr with a 5-spd (non-lsd).

It was a factory swap. Nothing special.

But I have a few questions/issues.

1. After 600-1000 miles I'm getting a knock, and maf code. Anything I should look for or test?

2. Will any sr20 exhaust manifolds work on a b15 chassis? Like a b13 or b14?

3. How do I stop the egr port on the exhaust manifold from leaking? I seafoamed the car today and it was leaking from the egr fitting.

I fixed the knock/maf codes with an induction service, cleaning the cap and rotor, and replacing the plugs.

Why? Why not have just spent the extra money and just pick up a "Se" Model from the start was it really worth the headaches?

I'm not speaking for the OP, but what he did was worth it in my mind. Now he has a much newer car with a better power plant. I like the idea of working with what you have, and this shows the initiative to do just that. I mean we do the same thing all the time with all of the different combos of swaps out there.

Nickel trick.

Get a nickel and put it into the EGR hole. It fits perfectly. Then tighten the EGR tube over it, effectively deleting your EGR system.

well guys he is running a 32 bit ecu from my understanding, theres really no way to get rid of the egr setup on a rr using a 00+ ecu from my understanding, i mean i have heard that its been done but never really got solid proof of it being done without stepping down to a b14 ecu and using a resistor. as far as egr leak goes, i believe someone was making a spacer for the egr tube and fitting. all i can say is nice work with what you have done and best of luck to you

I have a '01 Sentra SE with the RR SR20DE. You CAN delete the EGR system like any other car, and it's quite easy. The only imperative step you have to do is keep the very top part of the EGR solenoid with the harness connector plugged in, and just ziptie that away. You delete everything else, loop the coolant line, and cap the EGR ports on the header and intake manifold. It will throw a code, but the car won't go into limp mode. The car runs excellent and the idle is rock steady. You can even get rid of the SES light by installing a specific type of resistor (I forget how many ohms) inline to fool the ECU. There are plenty of write-ups on the subject. The only reason to do a step-down harness is if you want to tune a B15 SE with some type of realtime software or doing a DET/VE motorset.
