Will insurance cover this?
So About 5 years ago my windshield cracked. Come to find out that there was rust that caused it. It was all surface and was temp fixed. Well now....

Once again it has cracked and is much worse. I can actually see the rust under in the reflection and see the rust now. Which really bothers me.

Now seeing that Florida has a free replacement windshield, once its pulled they will see the rust and recommend to have it fixed.

My question is, with a $500 deductible. Will the insurance fix the rust? It's a 99 Se-L and I'm wondering if it will be worth it to them. It is to me!

i dont think so, if you pay the 500 deducable them maybe but i really doubt it. i believe a body shop might charge you about 500 or so to fix it. thats the better way to go

I just wondering if playing stupid with them will get them to fix the rust and all for the price of the deductible. Because if they just put another windshield in, its just going to happen again.

Why would you have comprehensive insurance on a $2000-$3000 car? Between the deductible and a year or two worth of premiums you could have enough to buy another car.

No, the insurance company isn't going to cover rust damage.

I just went through this. I had to pay out of pocket to get the rust repaired and the insurance company paid for the removal/replacement and installation of the new windshield. This is the way it is with both companies I have worked with (Progressive and USAA). They would not replace the windshield with the rust there, so I had no choice.

This is correct for State Farm also...but with a $500 Comprehensive deductible, your windshield will probably be out of pocket as well.

Rust would be attributed to maintenance or lack of, or even pre-existing condition and would not be covered.

Not true sir.

I added Comprehensive to mine also with a $100 deductible and it's only ~$124/year = ~$10/month ($500 deductible would be less).

I mainly got it for theft coverage but it also covers fire, hail damage, vandalism, broken windows, and animal collisions...we have a lot of deer here in the boonies.

They wouldn't insure the key fob for that around here.
