Thread: Stump with B14 Idle Issue.

Helping a friend out with an issue. Here are the known symptoms:

1. Car starts but dies immediately.
2. If you give it gas when starting, it'll stay running but with a high idle at 1500.
3. Both rad fans stay on during start up.
4. Car does not rev past 2500. I know now it's in limp mode.

One thing I observe while the fans were running. If I depress the AC button, the fans stop running (AC/Fan is not turned on) and car idles good at 800~900. But once I turn the AC on, the car stalls out. Idles fine with interior fan running.

Start the car up again with AC button at off position, car idles fine. But if you start car with AC button at on position, car idles high again and doesn't idle down until AC button is turned off.

Trying to figure out if both fans have gone bad and what else could cause this issue.

If you have a bad ecu or a wiring fault the fans are normally on all the time. 1 & 2 sound like a maf fault too.

Anymore details? Engine? Engine swap? have mods? ect

If you unplug the maf does it do the same thing?

Gonna have to do that next time I check the car.

Check MAF as @pTen suggested.
