Winter Storage
So i'm putting the SR20DET in storage for winter. My dads Corvette is being stored in the garage so my B14 is stuck being stored outside next to my 300zx TT which is also going into hibernation. Now I've got a pretty good idea on what to do although in my research i've noticed some people say different things.
1. Some say to put it on Jack stands to help prevent flat spots in the tires. Some however say not to do this as it puts the suspension in a unnatural state and in modern day radials as long as you keep it at the proper air pressure I should be fine to let it sit on for about 5 months.
2. I just wana verify that topping the tank off is best to do to help prevent condensation and rust...however i've seen to add fuel stabilizer but another article saying if its being stored less than a year to not worry adding any.
3. Some say if you can, start the car every so often to let it run, over the storage period, but others say not and that its better to let it sit becuz you can't get the engine and other drive train parts warmed up enough to do any good and will create condensation in the crankcase and exhaust that will kill your car
Obviously all say to clean inside/out, wax, plug up exhaust/intake to prevent animals climbing in, change the oil and other fluids right before storage. Both cars are being stored for the winter, the Z will be inside a canopy I built at the back of my driveway under its car cover, but my B14 will only be protected by a car cover. Any other tips or suggestions let me know.
