Thread: Tranny replacement of rebuilt

But the pictures don't work. I need to replace the shaft on my transmission(B13), since I got a problem with the ACT clutch the shaft some how got worn out a little. This cause the disc to have play with time and you have to replace it more frequently than normal because the center of the disc breaks.

I'm not sure how hard will be to do this by myself or what parts I need to do this job. I dont think is that hard and I'm not affraid to do it. On the other hand I'm also thinking of getting another transmission.

Can anybody tell me if I replace the shaft what parts I need. Also, any differences between the '93 B13 and 94-96 G20 transmissions? I will appreciate any feedback. I want to get my car ready for next year Convention

Get a new gear stack assembly from here. Cheaper and easier to ship. The trans dis/reassemble is easy stuff but the gears are pressed into that shaft( if you wanted to change just the shaft )

I sold this pic from a member for an example. These are gear stacks and the long one is the one that goes through the trans that the clutch spline mates

Thanks for the pic. The only thing wrong with the tranny is the shaft. I was wondering if u get a new shaft if u have to change anything else. Like new bearings, seals, o-rings or something like that.

You don't have to change the bearings on the input shaft if yours are still good, but in my opinion, it's worth it to put no bearings on the shaft if you have it removed anyway. A $20-$30 bearing IIRC is way worth having to re-open the tranny and remove all those gears from the input shaft. There is a bearing to the front and rear of all the gears you see. I know you only see one from the pic above, but there is another one at the far end as well.

get another trans,and keep yours for parts since you have 2 sr cars.

If you are interested...I do have a nice B14 gearstack here,good LSD,and everything.
It does have a second gear syncro grind,thats why it was removed....then I sold the case to a local guy that needed it.
I was keeping it for spare parts,for a situation like yours.

I've taken apart my transmission twice now, about to drop it right now and MIGHT need to crack it open again.. Honestly... Taking my sweet ass time it takes me 2 hours to open it, take it completely apart, put it back together and seal it... It is very very simple
